The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 release date announced
To build hype for the new season, Amazon also released the first trailer which gives fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the continuation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age of Middle-earth. The action-packed trailer teases the rise of the dark lord Sauron, who is seen disguising himself as an elf to help Celebrimbor forge the titular Rings of Power.
Familiar faces from season one, including Galadriel, Elrond, Arondir and Isildur, are also featured preparing for what appears to be an epic battle. The trailer offers our first proper look at Daniel Weyman’s character The Stranger, who was revealed at the end of season one to be one of the wizards known as the Istari.
The trailer has already been viewed over one million times since being shared on the show’s social media accounts. Fans expressed huge excitement in the comments for the upcoming second installment.
Season two of The Rings of Power began filming in the UK last year, marking a change in location from the first season which was filmed in New Zealand. With the new trailer giving a taste of what’s to come, expectations are high for Amazon to continue expanding Tolkien’s legendary Middle-earth mythology when the show returns on August 29, 2025.
